How to start a snow blower with electric start

Electric starters are installed in modern snow removal machines - they are the most reliable, simple, affordable and easy to use. To start a conventional model under standard conditions, just press the starter itself. Below is the algorithm of all actions to start the device:

  • Open the fuel supply - turn the valve.
  • Keep the motor cover stationary. It is located next to the spark plugs.
  • Turn the throttle lever all the way to the right to bring it to the closed position.

  • Turn the same lever all the way to the left to bring it to the open position.
  • Pump up fuel - several times press the booster pump.
  • After all the steps, press and hold the electric starter start button on the machine control panel. If after a few seconds of holding the engine does not start, release the button, wait 1-2 minutes and press again. Most likely, the car / fuel or oil has not yet warmed up, but a breakdown is also possible.
  • Move the throttle lever to the open position - open the baffle itself.

When the car starts, leave it running for 3-5 minutes. During this time, the oil, fuel and engine will warm up - the car will not stall.

Starting the snow blower manually

It is not uncommon to find snowblowers with a manual start method. Basically, a manual starter is installed in budget models. To start such a device, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the oil and fuel levels - make sure they are enough, top up if necessary.
  2. Unlock the wheels and auger mechanism by turning the corresponding levers. They may differ depending on the model.
  3. Open the fuel supply by lowering the appropriate lever.
  4. Keep the motor cap in a level position.
  5. Close the baffle/lower the damper.
  6. Move the start lever to the starting position.
  7. Press the fuel pump button to actually pump fuel.
  8. Tighten the starter cable until you feel a slight resistance.
  9. Pull the cable sharply one or more times until the engine starts.
  10. If it does not start, check the correctness of the procedures performed earlier, leave the car for 1-3 minutes, then repeat the previous two points. If the engine does not start, either the temperature is too low or the system is malfunctioning.
  11. After the snowblower engine starts, raise the choke/open the bulkhead.

Why won't my snow blower start?

A list of the most common reasons why a snow blower may not start:

  • No fuel (add fuel).
  • The fuel is of poor quality or has been stagnant since last year (the octane rating does not match the engine's need when gasoline stagnates, it loses its properties, octane number, quality, and begins to evaporate itself - drain the gasoline from the tank and fill in a new one, verified).
  • Incorrect throttle position (throttle valve is responsible for supplying air to the engine if it is blocked when the engine air is needed, it may not start or it will be under increased load, it wears out faster - make sure that the damper is correctly costs).
  • Not enough oil (add oil).
  • Poor quality engine oil (poor quality engine oil clogs the system from the inside - clogged filters, debris enters the engine, because of this, the snow blower cannot to start, and with the constant use of this oil, the engine of the unit will fail - drain the oil from the system, clean it and fill in new oil from the list of allowed oils in instructions).
  • A breakdown in the engine (most often it is a faulty / incorrectly adjusted carburetor, a belt broke, filters clogged, if you do not have tools suitable for repair, and even more knowledge, it is better to contact a specialist so as not to break apparatus).
  • Malfunction in the ignition system (carbon deposits formed on the spark plugs, they burned out / failed or filled with oil - disassemble the body of the snow blower, remove the spark plugs, clean them and the installation site, replace the spark plugs).
