Types of dry closets: how to choose the right one for a construction site – Setafi

Types of dry closets are represented mainly by chemical and electrical ones. Moreover, among the first, several subtypes are distinguished, depending on which liquid is used for disinfection. For a construction site, you can choose almost any model, but the most effective is a chemical toilet. Why this is so is detailed in the article.

Chemical dry closets

These are self-contained toilets that do not require an electrical connection, liquid drainage, or ventilation installation. They have several benefits:

  • hygiene;
  • complete tightness of the room;
  • lack of odors;
  • simple service.

The chemical dry closet for the construction site is represented by 2 containers. The top is completely filled with water, with its help waste is drained. It is equipped with a pump, which can be electric, piston or bellows. The lower container receives waste products.

Such a toilet is called a liquid toilet, since a liquid chemical preparation is used for sanitation:

  1. Formaldehyde solution (formalin) destroys all bacteria, fungi and other pathogens. The liquid has a bluish tint, and it can only be drained into the general sewer.
  2. Ammonium compounds are not as toxic, although they do not degrade waste products as quickly as formalin. The color of the liquid is green.
  3. Biological solutions with bacterial strains or enzymes. This is the most environmentally friendly option, since the composition is completely safe for the environment. But such a dry closet for a construction site is used less frequently, since fluid replacement has to be done several times a day.

As a rule, chemical toilets with formalin are used for construction. This is the most effective tool that suppresses the processes of decay, the reproduction of bacteria. Therefore, the room does not smell of anything and can be used for a long time without processing the container.

Electric dry closets

You can also consider an electric dry closet for construction. Unlike a chemical device, this device burns or dries up waste products. Moreover, the processing takes place at a rather high temperature - more than 500 ° C. To do this, such a toilet is equipped with an electric heater, the power of which reaches 1.5 kW.

A complete recycling cycle takes 20-40 minutes, and some time is spent on heating the elements to the desired temperature. The total energy consumption for one visit does not exceed 1.5 kWh. It's not a huge expense, but chemical toilets are more cost effective.

Which toilet to choose

If you choose a toilet for a construction site, it is better to stop at a chemical one that works on a formaldehyde solution. This is the most economical and at the same time the most effective option.

As for the biological fluid or solution of ammonium compounds, such devices are most often purchased by summer residents. After processing, they use the waste to make compost and apply fertilizer for digging. But at a construction site there is no such need, so it is worth considering formalin liquid. You can also install an electric toilet, but then the utility costs will increase somewhat.
